Modern vs. Postmodern:
A Poster Study

Typography II • UMass Lowell

This poster study explores the differences between two movements of graphic design: the grid-based logic of Modernism and the expressive style of Postmodernism. Both posters use the word "NOW" as the centerpiece of the composition, and the negative space within the letters is used to contain the body text. The modernism-inspired poster is clear and structured, while the ladder uses diagonals and a pattern-based layout to for a dynamic and expressive composition
